What is a typical day like at Coast Ranch?
We wake up with the sun as we ease into the day with a morning yoga stretch session followed by a casual breakfast. Shortly after breakfast we are transported as a group to the nearby trail head for our daily hike. Lunch will ocassionally be catered in on-trail or served back on site. The afternoon entails a massage, free time to take a nap or explore the grounds, a daily fitness class and happy hour at the juice bar. We gather for family style dinners in the cozy clubhouse and enjoy a mindful eating experience, including dessert! Some nights may include staff and guest speakers on a variety of health, fitness, and wellness topics.
How far are we hiking?
Average length of hikes are between 8-12 miles. Intensity level varies according to elevation gain, terrain, and distance. We have thoughtfully scheduled the hikes and complementary fitness activies to account for this and provide you a well balanced program. Additional hiking opportunities at the property or neighboring beach are available during free time.

Will I lose weight?
We are not a fat farm. We won't weigh you. We don't believe in calorie deprivation or punishing exercise as the path for a healthy and balanced lifestyle. We are here to facilitate a nature inspired wellness experience that will challenge your body and expand your mind. You may naturally lose a few pounds depending on your prior physical activity and nutrition habits. We have an on-site Registered Dietitian that meets with participants individually to assess their goals and provide expert guidance.
What type of vegetarian food is provided?
Our culinary team prepares Lacto-Ovo Vegetarian cuisine (fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, beans, legumes, tofu, nuts, seeds, etc.) in addition to eggs and dairy. Beyond the health benefits, we are conscious of the environmental impact a meat based diet has on our earth's limited natural resources. Therefore, we have thoughtfully created a nutritionally sound and delicious Vegetarian menu.
Food allergies and dietary restrictions for medical necessity can be accomodated in most cases. Please contact our Registered Dietitian for specific questions/concerns.
Side note, as for beverages, green tea is available in the morning. Herbal teas, spa water, kombucha, organic juices and smoothies are also served daily.
What do I need to bring?
A list of required and suggested items will be included in your welcome packet. We provide treking poles, all toiletries, refillable water bottles, and a small retail selection of basic hiking items in case you forget something.
Can I bring my phone and tablet/lap top computer?
Yes, for emergency purposes. However, we encourage you to "un-plug" from technology in order to reap the most benefit from your wellness week. Wifi is availabe in the Sycamore Lodge.
Can I request creek side or ocean view lodging?
Lodging is assigned on a first come, first serve basis. Double occupancy is available in most units.
Is transportation provided?
Yes, complimentary shuttle service from the airport to the designated pick-up/drop-off location is available. Pick up is at 1pm on Sunday and drop off is at Noon on Saturday in Santa Monica. Direct transportation to/from LAX can be arranged (not included in program fee). You have the option to rent a car or drive to us if you're closeby. Since this is an all-inclusive, wellness week experience, a car is not necessary. Daily transportation to and from hiking trail locations is also included in the program fee.
What is included in the program fee?
The all-inclusive program fee includes: Lodging, 3 daily meals and snacks, nutrition consultation, daily guided hikes, yoga, fitness classes, massage, expert guest speakers and more!
